This chardonnay has a wonderful aroma that’s fresh and very appealing. White flowers such as jasmine dominate the lifted floral nose with a hint of lemon and lime zest. The palate has an initial piercing acidity that is quickly nullified by the creamy malolactic texture. A very interesting and complex wine.
I would match the Kumeu River Hunting Hill 2008 Chardonnay with a light dish, such as the Buttercup, Edamame, Lemon and Sage Risotto. The floral component will match the lightness, and the malolactic creaminess will suit the arborio rice.
This is a vegan wine made without the use of fining agents.
